Mangaluru: Former union minister B Janardhana Poojary has reiterated his opinion that the Congress will fail to retain power at the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) and that the BJP would put up an overwhelming show, leaving the Congress shocked.

Addressing the reporters here on Friday, November 8, Poojary informed that November 14 would be a crucial day for the Congress as the counting of the MCC election has been scheduled on that day.

“The Congress leaders will be shedding tears on November 14 for various mistakes they have done so far, including that of sidelining and neglecting the senior leaders of the party,” he said.

He maintained his earlier claim that he was not consulted by any Congress leader while finalising the MCC candidates’ list, as against the statement made by the District Congress Committee Chief Hareesh Kumar that the list was finalised after having deliberations with Poojary.

Poojary also slammed former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for his claim that the Congress government released Rs 5000 cr for the MCC alone. “This is far from the truth. Such a huge fund never came to the MCC during the Congress government,” he said.

Meanwhile, Poojary demanded the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa claiming that the audio tape of Yediyurappa shows that “Operation Kamala” was the reason behind the collapse of the coalition government. “Both Yediyurappa and Amit Shah should tender their resignations on moral ground as their illegal “Operation Kamala” activity led to the fall of a democratic form of government,” he stressed.

Maintain peace and harmony

In the backdrop of the Ayodhya verdict that will be come out soon, Poojary asked the people that priority should be given to peace and harmony in the region and they must refrain from taking law into their own hands. “ As the verdict of the Supreme Court is ultimate, everyone should respect the verdict,” he added.

Congress leaders Vijay Kumar Shetty, Kallige Tharanath Shetty, Karunakar Shetty and Ajith Kumar were present.
