Mangaluru: Member of Parliament Nalin Kumar Kateel has said that since the Congress found no issues to rake up over the last six years, it is now using Citizenship Amendment Act as vent out its frustration.
Addressing the BJP workers during the divisional level workshop on CAA at BJP office on January 1, Kateel said, “when Narendra Modi led BJP government took a historic decision of abrogating provision of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, Congress thought that Muslims would fight against the BJP government. When Triple Talaq Bill was introduced, the Congress planned to use it as a weapon to fight against the BJP. The recent verdict on Ram Mandir also disappointed Congress as Muslim community did not oppose the verdict. Though, Congress party had planned to defeat the BJP using all these issues through Muslim community, they did not get proper support from Muslims. Hence, having no any other option, the Congress is opposing CAA in order to milk political benefit.”
“Former prime ministers Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi also had consented to give citizenship to the minorities who are facing persecution in countries like Pakistan and other Muslim countries in the name of religion. Then, why should Congress oppose this Act? Those who oppose CAA should study it properly and should not fall victims to the political game of the Congress,” Nalin added.
Meanwhile, Nalin asked BJP workers to educate the public about CAA in Gram Panchayat, Taluk and district level through organising various awareness programmes.
Later, BJP state vice president Nirmal Kumar Surana informed about CAA and its implications.
BJP state secretary Thingale Vikramarjuna Hegde, MLAs D Vedavyas Kamath, Dr Y Bharath Shetty, district BJP vice president Ravishankar Mijar and others were present.
