Concept of plastic surgery thought of by Lord Shiva: MP Nalin Kateel

Mangaluru: Plastic surgery was thought of and performed for the first time by Lord Shiva, said Nalin Kumar Kateel at an event here on September 17.

He was speaking at the Vishwakarma Jayanti programme held here in Vinayaka temple, Car street, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Vishwakarma.

The minister, in his address to the gathering, was referencing the story of how Lord Ganesha came to have an elephant’s head in place of his own. He narrated the story of how Lord Shiva beheaded Ganapati, who was manning the door as per Parvati’s instruction, and who then attached an elephant’s head through plastic surgery.

One can’t help but recall odd statements being made by politicians prominently from the Bharatiya Janata Party, the most popular one being Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb who has made controversial statements ever since he took office.
