Mangaluru: The complete lockdown in the district that was in place over the last two days has been extended by one more day.
District in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary said that the complete lockdown in the district will continue even on Monday, March 30 in order to curb the spread of COVID-19.
He clarified that the general public will be allowed to purchase grocery and essential items between 6 am and 3 pm on Tuesday, even if the lockdown continues.
During the time span that relaxation is given, people must maintain social distancing and only one person shall venture out of each home to bring the essential commodities, he stressed.
Meanwhile, he urged the shopkeepers not to overprice the commodities and stick to the MRP.
“If shopkeepers are found violating the MRP, then strict action will be taken against them,” he said.
Informing about the move of sheltering destitute, Kota said over 1500 homeless were sheltered at schools and hostels.
“Lunch will be provided to the homeless in temples and also through Indira Canteen,” Kota added.
