Mangaluru: The Telecom District Advisory Council Chairman and MP Nalin Kumar Kateel ordered the officials to check all the issues raised by consumers at the customer meet related to BSNL complaints and submit a report within 15 days to find an appropriate solution.

Speaking at the Sullia Taluk Panchayat Hall at the BSNL Consumer Communications Workshop held here on November 13, MP Nalin suggested a special team to address BSNL telephone problems and insisted on laying Optical Fibre Cables (OFC) to provide quick connections and broadband connectivity to Co-operative Societies. Extra towers should be provided in Belthangadi and Sullia taluks to provide mobile connectivity to rural areas in these taluks, MP Nalin said.

Customers present at the meet pointed at poor customer service of BSNL, where complaints remain unattended for ages. Citing cable problems, customer problems are ignored for long by the departmental staff and it has failed in network maintenance too, they alleged. Most towers stop functioning during power outages and there is no auxiliary power supply arrangements (Gensets) provided, complained few present whereas the rest mentioned about their problems related to speed in mobile connectivity.

MP Nalin heard the customer grievances and directed officials present at the meet to solve them on priority.
