Now blessed with a new Chapel from a traditional outlook to the merger of the new and old place, one should visit this place for the Spiritual enlightenment. A few years later, Fr. Vincent Lobo started the Konkani family monthly magazine, “Sevak” which saw its first issue in September 1959. He also started Assisi Press in 1970 as a landmark in the media apostolate of the Province. And now, in the year 2020, the Capuchin Fathers have come up with a unique studio, named “Assisi Studio”.

Prior to the inauguration, the welcome address was delivered by Fr Stephen D’sSouza OFM, followed by prayers by Fr Manohar D’Souza OFM and Fr Prakash Lobo OFM.

Following the inauguration and blessing, the guests were entertained in the studio with the instrumental tune of the Hindi song ‘Ek Pyar Ka Nagama Hai’ sung by Lata Mangeshkar, led by the group leader and renowned musician Patrick Pereira on guitar, Prakash Karkala on Saxophone, Ashwin Sequeira on Drums, Floyd Pereira on Bass guitar and Dr. Senek D’Souza on rhythm guitar.

In his inaugural address, Bishop Rev Dr. Peter Paul Saldanha said, “These days communication plays an important role in the world. Communication skills are very essential in life because if we do not communicate, there won’t be unity. Without communication, we will not be able to understand each other. Humans communicate with others not only through face-to-face communication but also by giving information via the Internet and printed products such as books and newspapers. Many people believe that the significance of communication is like the importance of breathing”.

While concluding Bishop said, “It is no doubt that communication plays a vital role in human life. It not only helps to facilitate the process of sharing information and knowledge but also helps people to develop relationships with others. Therefore, the importance of communication cannot be underestimated. Every day, we communicate with a lot of people including our families, our friends, our colleagues, or even strangers. We should learn how to communicate effectively to make our lives better. If we learn communication skills, we can even talk to God. It should also be noted that the media plays an important role in the field of communication. And therefore, the Capuchin Fathers decided to have this ‘Assisi Studio’ with an aim to communicate with each other and unite hearts. My heartfelt wishes to the entire team at the Studio”.

In his speech, Fr Alwyn Dias said, “This studio was set up on the principles of St Francis Assisi. My sincere thanks to everyone who helped in starting this unique studio in the city. The success of the studio was due to a large number of donors, well-wishers, and generous people, and I look forward to their unstinted support and encouragement in the future too. Through this Studio, we want to convey a positive message to the society, and welcome everyone to the studio to experience the state-of-art technology and feel the difference.”

MLA Vedavyas Kamath also spoke and wished the Studio team all success. “Today people are eager to listen to positive news, feel a positive energy, where presently the digital world partially helps everyone to remain positive. It would be helpful if Assisi Studio strives hard to keep people positive with their new venture and new projects. My sincere wishes for the success of this Studio” added MLA Kamath.

Editor in Chief of Daijiworld Walter Nandalike also spoke on the occasion.

On the occasion, a young musician and Sound Engineer of ‘Assisi Studio’ Patson Pereira was felicitated for his efforts in masterminding the set up of the studio and other arrangements in producing good quality programmes. The vote of thanks was delivered by Fr Paul Melwyn D’Souza-the superior of St Anne’s Friary, and the programme was compered by Fr Chethan Lobo OFM- the PRO of Udupi Diocese.
