Puttur: A college education department auditing staffer was caught red-handed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau while taking a bribe from the principal of the Bettampady Government First Grade college on April 26, in Suratkal.
The arrested accused has been identified as Lokesh.
Anti-Corruption Bureau SP Uma Prashanth led the team that conducted the operation to nab the accused.
According to sources in the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Radhakrishna, the principal of Bettampady College, had registered a complaint against Lokesh for demanding a bribe of Rs 2.5 lakh from him to clear his pension papers and put the college files in order.
Lokesh had allegedly asked the principal to come to Suratkal near hotel Sadanada to pay the bribe. He was caught red-handed in his car by the Anti-Corruption Bureau officers, who took him into custody and seized the cash.
