CODP celebrates Diwali with members of various self-help groups

Mangaluru: The Canara Organization for Development and Peace (CODP) celebrated Diwali along with members of self-help groups Kamadhenu and Kalpavraksha.

The chief guest of the event was Kadri Police Station Inspector Maruthi. Anugraha SHG President Shanthi D’Souza welcomed the gathering.

After the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, CODP Director Fr Oswald Monteiro said, “Harmony grows when all the members belonging to different religions in self-help groups celebrate the festival together.”

“Let us be the light of society by our noble deeds, talk, and life,” he added.

Addressing the gathering, Inspector Maruthi wished everyone a happy Deepavali and briefed the audience on the problems facing women and children. He also laid out the legal options available for people in such situations.

Afterward, Mahasangha President Sandhya delivered the vote of thanks while Bhagavathi Sangha President Satyavathi compered the programme.

CODP Manager Ravikumar Crasta and CODP Activist Kalagirish were present.
