Mangaluru: Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy inaugurated the Mangaluru Dasara at Shree Gokarnanatha Temple in Kudroli on Sunday, October 14.
After inaugurating the Mangaluru Dasara he said, “Though some people opine that there is no God and science is ultimate, no science will help people when they are in some problems. The only way of getting relief is by praying to God”, he said.
Lauding the manner in which Mangaluru Dasara is organised, Kumaraswamy said, “Many organisations, temples among others approach government seeking funds for organising Dasara. But, Kudroli Gokarnanatha temple has been organising Mangaluru Dasara without seeking any funds from the government. Hence, Mangaluru Dasara is the fest by the people”, he said.
Lauding the efforts of former union minister and the temple’s renovation committee Chairman B J Janardhana Poojary, CM said, “Poojary is a rare politician who always sticks to honesty. As long as he is right, he doesn’t care about anybody whether he is a chief minister or a prime minister. I have been watching his activities since my childhood and I respect him a lot”, he said and prayed for Poojary’s good health.
Prior to the programme, Kumaraswamy offered pooja at the temple. Meanwhile, he was felicitated by the temple management committee.
Minister for Urban Development and Housing U T Khader, Mayor Bhaskar K, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA Vedavyas Kamath, MLCs Kota Srinivas Poojary, S L Bhoje Gowda, former ministers Vinay Kumar Sorake, B Ramanatha Rai, temple management committee members Jaya C Suvarna, Harikrishna Bantwal, Padmaraj among others were present.
