Mangaluru/Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy has instructed the officials to resume the mid-day meal scheme for the differently abled children in Dakshina Kannada on June 12.

The administrator of Saanidhya Special School for the Mentally Challenged, Vasanth Kumar Shetty met the chief minister in Bengaluru and explained the plight of the differently abled children at the school. He also informed the CM about the stoppage of mid-day meal scheme that was in operation for 10 years. The children used to receive the meals through the trust at the Kateel Durgaparameshwari Temple earlier.

Responding quickly to the concerns of the differently abled children, the CM instructed the officials to resume the mid-day meal scheme. Speaking to Newskarnataka, Vasanth Kumar Shetty said that he was thankful to the CM for responding so quickly.

Though he was not sure about when the students would start receiving meals, Vasanth Shetty said that this was a good development.

Vasanth also requested the chief minister for a felicitation ceremony to which he readily agreed. “The felicitation ceremony will be held on July 14, at the Shikshakara Sadana in Bengaluru”, said Vasanth Shetty.
