Mangaluru: Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy has directed the official to provide housing facilities to the people rendered homeless by the recent deluge in Kodagu, said State Minister for Urban Development U T Khader on Wednesday, August 22.

Addressing a press meet here, Khader said, “The chief minister has directed Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation Commissioner Anup Kumar to hold a survey and identify a suitable land to construct houses for the homeless flood victims of Kodagu.”

“Anup Kumar along with the Deputy Commissioner of Kodagu will hold a survey and identify the land for building houses. Later a report will be sent to the state government,” he added.

Khader informed that Karnataka State Housing Department AGM Pasha will visit the district on Friday, August 24. “He will hold a meeting with the DC and conduct a survey for suitable land,” he added.

“The Karnataka government has urged ISRO and Geological Survey of India (GSI) to find out the cause for the natural disaster in Kodagu. GSI has appointed two experts to carry out a detailed study to identify the reasons for the disaster,” he said.

Khader also asked the private institutions to send relief materials through the Dakshina Kannada district administration to avoid any rumours.
