Mangaluru: Former chief minister M Veerappa Moily has alleged chief minister B S Yediyurappa of misusing the office of the chief minister by taking the decision of withdrawing compensation to the victims of police firing.

Addressing the reporters at District Congress office on Wednesday, December 25, Moily said, “Yediyurappa had announced the compensation during his visit to the city. He had held a talk with the victims’ family members. Merely two days after his visit to the city, he seems to have changed his decision and announced that declared compensation will not be given to the victims’ family members, claiming that they had involved in violent protest. How does he come to such a decision within two days? He must be misguided by somebody, which forced him to take such a decision.”

Moily alleged that violence and riots are taking place only in the BJP ruled states such as Karnataka, Assam and Uttar Pradesh. “Union government must respect the public opinion and not implement both the CAA and NRC.”

Meanwhile, MLA U T Khader said that Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa is the weakest chief minister of state.

Former minister B Ramanath Rai, MLC Hareesh Kumar, former mayors Bhaskar K, Shashidhar Hegde among others were present.
