Beltangady: Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh compensation from the state government to the family of Nagesh Padu, a video journalist, who lost his life to dengue recently.
Yediyurappa declared this compensation while Dakshina Kannada District Working Journalists Association (DKDWJA) president Srinivas Nayak Indaje submitted a memorandum to him at Dharmastala on Monday, August 12 and sought compensation for victim Nagesh Padu’s family as he has left behind his wife, aged mother and a five-year-old child.
Later, Mangaluru South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath, during the district level natural disaster management meeting informed about the sudden spurt in dengue cases in Dakshina Kannada district and sought similar compensation to the families of those who died due to suspected dengue fever. Responding to it, Yediyurappa informed that he would look into his demand.
