Cheating: Mangaluru North police arrests two

Mangaluru: The Mangaluru North police arrested two persons for allegedly trying to cheat a localite on the pretext of providing him foreign currency notes, on Friday, January 18.

The arrested have been identified as Mohammed Saleem (33), son of Mohammed Shahid and Nasrul Islam (56), son of Mujambil, both residents of Howrah district in West Bengal.

According to the police sources, the accused attempted to cheat a person Ibrahim Aleel, a few days ago, on the pretext of providing Dirham currency notes of UAE, while clearing loan. Though the accused handed over a bundle of currency notes, it was comprised of waste papers in the middle of the bundle. The accused had kept only seven real currency notes on the surface of the bundle and remaining all are waste papers.

Ibrahim grew suspicious of the currency notes and questioned the duo. But both the accused fled the place. Following a complaint, Mangaluru North police arrested both the accused on Friday.
