Mangaluru: The Mangaluru Literary Foundation is organising a two-day 'Mangaluru Lit Fest - 2019' at Dr TMA Pai International Convention Centre on November 29 and 30.
Former MLC and organising member of the 'Lit Fest', Capt Ganesh Karnik told mediapersons here on Monday, November 25, that this second edition of the fest will be organised to showcase the ancient Indian wisdom of peace, prosperity and universal well-being.
"The programme will be inaugurated by Jnanapith awardee Dr Chandrashekhar Kambar on November 29 at around 10 AM. The programme will be presided over by Nitte ( Deemed to be University) Chancellor Dr Vinay Hegde. The lifetime achievement award will be presented to Sahitya Akademi and Pampa awardee Dr M Chidananda Murthy on the same occasion. Rajya Sabha MP Rajiv Chandrasekhar and MRPL Managing Director Venkatesh will attend the event as chief guests," he said.
"As the topic of the 'Lit Fest' this time will be 'Idea of Bharath - Today and Tomorrow', there will be various sessions like 'Diversity and Performative Traditions', 'Ahead of Nature', 'Searching Truth or Exploring Beauty' and others, wherein different resource persons will shed light on the respective subjects. During the two-day programme, a Yakshagana workshop, clay modelling workshop, art workshop, drawing and painting competitions, photography exhibition and other events will be organised," Karnik added.
Meanwhile, Karnik informed that plastic cups and bottles will not be used during the lit fest and that the people should cooperate with the organisers in this regard.
Organiser Capt Brijesh Chowta, poet Vasanth Kumar Perla and others were present.
