Mangaluru: Tomorrow marks the day when Bappa visits all of us, opening the doors of good fortune. Ganesh Chaturthi is just one day away and marks the birth of Vinayaka to Goddess Parvati from Mount Kailasha.

‘My friend Ganesha’ idol-making competition is here again to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi, this time virtually! The event is being organized by Mrs India Worldwide 2017 winner Soujanya Hedge led by popular party planners Let’s Party, in association with Mangalore Meri Jaan, Foxwell Productions, News Karnataka, My Road Runner, JCI Mangalore Lalbagh, and Giftify.
For the contest, the idols can be made using any material such as paper, clay, bottle, waste materials etc. The last day to register for this competition is August 25 by 10 AM. The participants are required to make a video (maximum duration of three minutes) that covers the steps of the idol-making process. “The short-listed participants will also be asked for an interview by NewsKarnataka. Due to the current situation, participants will be rewarded with trophies and certificates,” informed Soujanya Hegde.
They have previously conducted unique idol-making competitions that include eco-friendly and sustainable products, unifying us in our love for Lord Ganesha. “We have conducted the event for the past three years. Since this year is plagued with the pandemic, we have decided to do it online. The videos submitted by the participants must be about where and how the idol-making started, bit by bit, till the finished product,” she said, adding that life has to go on.
This is not just an idol-making competition. It is a shared feeling of connectedness that Lord Ganesha aims to bring in, making it religiously important and also eco-friendly. Making the idol of Ganesha for him to bestow his feelings on us is too good to be true!
