Mangaluru: The City Crime Branch (CCB) police on Thursday, October 11, has nabbed a 25-year-old woman for allegedly procuring ganja for an inmate of the district jail.
Sources in CCB informed that the woman was frequently visiting district jail under the pretext of meeting an undertrial Musthafa. As Musthafa was addicted to ganja, he asked the woman to procure ganja. CCB was tipped off about a woman, who was loitering outside the jail. Based on this information, a CCB team headed by Inspector Shantharam and Sub Inspector Shyam Sundar rushed near the district jail and nabbed the woman.
During the interrogation, it was revealed that she had already supplied ganja to Mustafa and it was the second time she was trying to do the same. Police seized around 20 grams of ganja and a mobile phone from her possession. Though she was handed over to Barke Police Station for further investigation, she was released on bail, sources said. However, her source of ganja is yet to be ascertained.
A case has been registered at Barke Police Station in this regard.
