CAMPCO achieves all time high turnover; Posts Rs 40 crore profit in 2017-18

Mangaluru: “The Central Arecanut and Cocoa Marketing and Processing Cooperative (CAMPCO) Ltd. has achieved a all time high turnover of Rs 1742 crores and registered a net profit of Rs 40 crore during fiscal year 2017-18”, said its President S R Satishchandra.

Addressing mediapersons at the headoffice on 27 September 2018, Satishchandra said, “About 10 percent dividen is given to the members and one rupee incentive on arecanut per kg”.

A very few skilled labourers are available to treat the arecanut tree. The Shivamogga University is planning to train a set of students on the treatment of arecanut plantation. CAMPCO has agreed with such tie ups so as to involve to take this skilled work and get right benefits out of it, as the younger generation is heading towards urban lifestyle”, he added.

Some of the CAMPCO initiatives
1. The total production of the CAMPCO Chocolate Factory has reached the mark of 13685 metric tonne, from which 9530.39 are produced by CAMPCO. The sales have marked the amount of Rs. 182 cr, including 1308 metric tonne of export valued at Rs. 20 cr.
2. As its a Swadeshi brand, it is committed to provide quality products. CAMPCO pure milk chocolates are supplied under the title “Dairy Dream” to the naval base in Mumbai, Cochin and Vizag.
3. To promote intercrops in Arecanut gardens, it has arranged to distribute 47,990 cocoa seedings and 10,900 pepper saplings to the members at a subsidised rates.
4. Under “CAMPCO Chocolate Kiosks” opened at Puttur, local consumers are made available with variety of chocolate products to choose from.
5. Towards the medical aid of its grower members, CAMPCO has extended financial aid towards 17 beneficiaries, in which 11 have been aided for open heart surgery and 6 for dialysis treatment.
7. It has incorporated E-Way billing system as per central government norms to avoid malpractices and tax evasions.
8. To benefit the coconut grower members, CAMPCO has contacted M/s. Alfa Laval, the pioneers in coconut machinery supply. Under the “Coconut Processing Project”, it has planned to provide copetitive prices for the coconut products to support its coconut grower members.

S R Satischandra informed that the 44th AGM of the CAMPCO is scheduled on Saturday, September 29 at 11 am at Sangha Nikethan, Mangaluru . Vice Presient Shankaranarayana Bhat, Managing Director M Suresh Bhandary, DGM Reshma Mallya were present.
