Siddapura: A bus stand located nearby Chettalli, near here that was built for the comfort of passengers has become a den of immoral activities.
A bus shelter was built for the passengers who form majority of plantation workers and students. Meanwhile, it was repaired with the funds of zilla panchayat nearly five years ago. It is now lying in deplorable condition with roof blown away and walls developed cracks.
The monsoon season is far approaching with school reopening. There lies the urgency to repair the bus stand at the earliest, urge the locals.
It has already become a den of immoral activities. The urchins play cards, booze and one cannot just go nearby.
The bus shelters were built in the remote areas across Kodagu district, owing to the efforts of Rajya Sabha member Prema Karyappa, but are in disuse without proper maintenance. The walls adorn with graffiti drawn by unsound people. The concerned authorities are urged to take early action in this regard.
