Bus Employees to get Pensions, Ivan D Souza

Mangalore: The district administration and private bus owners agreed to fulfill 18 demands of employees of private city, service and express buses that are plying in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada (DK) districts, said DK district Karmika Parishat affiliated bus employees Union president Ivan D Souza.

Addressing the press meet held at Hotel Woodlands, here on Wednesday July 17 at 5.00pm, said that in spite of the Union plead the bus owners and district administration in order to address the grievances of employees since the past 7 years, it was of no use.  In these past 7 years, the Union has never called the bus employees as not to report to duties.  Meanwhile, it was decided to observe one-day total bund on Wednesday July 17.  However, the bund was withdrawn at the backdrop of Deputy Commissioner N Prakash called an emergency meeting and a nine-member co-ordinating Committee was formed, said Ivan.

The Committee convened a meeting at the chairmanship of DCP Dharmaiah at Regional Transport Authority (RTA) office, here on Wednesday morning.  It has reviewed all the demands and decided to fulfill 13 out of them.  Both DC and bus owners agreed to issue identity cards to drivers, conductors and cleaners who have completed 18 months of service with one bus owner, to introduce e-ticket in private buses, pension, uniforms to drivers and conductors, said Ivan.
