Bundh call against CAA, NRC: Section 144 enforced in M’luru

Mangaluru: As a precautionary measure, the Mangaluru City Police Commissioner and Additional District Magistrate, on Wednesday, ordered the clamping of Section 144 of the CrPC in the Mangaluru Police Commissionerate from 9 PM on Wednesday (December 18) to 12 AM on Friday (December 20).

This decision has been taken as some political parties have given a nationwide bundh call against the implementation of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), 2019 and the National Register of Citizens (NRC) on December 19 and 20, Commissioner of Police Dr P S Harsha said in a press release.

The order bars the holding of public meetings, the assembly of more than four persons, processions, bursting of crackers, carrying of deadly weapons etc.
