Mangaluru: The Brahmakalashotsava rituals of the Idya Shri Mahalingeshwara temple, Ashtapavithra Nagamandalotsava and Nemotsava of Pilichamundi Daiva will be held from January 31 to February 9.
Informing about the religious rituals, the temple’s renovation committee president Mahabala Poojary Kadambody said that the temple has a history of over a thousand years. The temple has been renovated at a cost of Rs 1.5 crores. The Brahmakalashotsava rituals will be held under the guidance of Brahmashri Kudupu Narasimha Tantri and the Nagamandalotsava rituals will be held by Vedamurthy Sagri Gopalakrishna Samaga Muddur and Krishnaprasad Vaidya. Along with the religious programmes, cultural programmes will also be organised during the 10-day programme, he informed.
The temple is not limited to organising only religious programmes. It has also been organising alcohol de-addiction camps, training programmes on Yakshagana, vedic culture and others. “Earlier, the temple had organised Brahmakalashotsava rituals in the year 1979, 1991 and 2004. During the last Brahmakalashotsava rituals, over one lakh devotees participated,” Mahabala Poojary recalled.
Temple hereditary trustee Vedamurthy I Ramanand Bhat, working presidents Sathyajith Suratkal, Agari Raghavendra Rao, Santhosh Kumar Shetty, T N Ramesh, general secretary Krishna Kumar, chief conveners Annappa Devadiga, Mahesh Murthy Suratkal, committee members Rajani Dugganna, Jagannath Shetty Bala and others were present.
