Mangaluru: The winning margin of the BJP against Congress in the Mangaluru Lok Sabha constituency poll this time will be 2 lakh votes, said Dakshina Kannada District Bharatiya Janata Party President and Puttur MLA Sanjeeva Matandoor.
Matandoor, in a press conference on Tuesday, March 26, told reporters that Nalin had won the Lok Sabha election twice, even when a senior Congress leader was in the fray. Hence, BJP would not care about a junior candidate like Mithun Rai and this time the winning margin will go beyond 2 lakh votes, he added.
“The failures of state government would be the main agenda during the BJP’s election campaign. The state government is in the ventilator, for which surgery is required. Though we are focusing on the achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we also seeking votes on the performance by Nalin. Nalin had succeeded in getting approval for plastic park, special agriculture zone among other major projects. The survey conducted by the various organisations also proved that Nalin has secured a good position when compared to the other MPs”, he said.
Modi or Amit Shah to attend election campaign
Meanwhile, Matandoor informed that Narendra Modi or BJP National President Amit Shah will attend a public meeting in Mangaluru, but the exact date has not been finalised so far. “Over 55 public meetings would be organised in different areas in Dakshina Kannada district from April 1. The leaders of ‘Page Pramukh’ will meet the voters on March 28, 29, 30 door-to-door. There will be a road show in various parts of the district to grab the attention of the voters on April 15 and 16”, he said.
MLAs S Angara, Dr. Y Bharath Shetty, Hareesh Poonja and other leaders like Jithendra Kottary, Rajesh among others were present.
