Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada Bharatiya Janatha Party has stated that it would approach the Anti-Corruption Bureau demanding a probe into the land grab allegations against District In-charge Minister B Ramanath Rai for illegally grabbing a government land at Kallige Village of Bantwal Taluk.

Addressing a press meet at BJP office here on November 16, BJP Spokesperson Jithendra Kottary said that very soon the party would file a case against Rai for illegally grabbing 10 acres of government land at Kallige Village in Bantwal Taluk. “Rubber is now being cultivated on this illegally grabbed land hence we will file a complaint with ACB and Deputy Commissioner asking them to retract the encroached land from the minister.”

“Ramanath Rai’s wife had applied for Akrama-Sakrama seeking a grant of 2.04 acres of land in Survey No. 20/2 of Mani village, Bantwal Taluk, in 1992. But the Akrama-Sakrama Committee had sanctioned 3.04 acres of land when Ramanath Rai was minister in the state government in 2001. The committee sanctioned one acre of land to Rai’s wife without any application,” he said.

Further he added that Karnataka Deputy Director of Land Records Office had written a letter to make Kallige Village as “Podi Muktha” village but this 10-acre land under Survey No 97/1 had been not included in the “Podi Muktha”. Hence BJP has decided to file a complaint, he said.

Former MLA N Yogish Bhat, Nithin kumar and others were present during the press meet.
