Mangaluru: A helpline centre has been set up at the BJP’s district office in order to help autorickshaw and taxi drivers to avail grant-in-aid from the government.

This help-centre was jointly inaugurated by Mayor Divakar Pandeshwar and BJP South Block president Vijay Kumar Shetty on Wednesday, May 27.

Mangaluru South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath, while speaking on the occasion, said that the government has announced the grant-in-aid for autorickshaw and taxi drivers as they have been struggling ever since the lockdown was enforced.

“Many autorickshaw and taxi drivers are not able to apply for the grant-in-aid online, therefore, this helpline centre will help them to apply for the same. Taxi and autorickshaw drivers should approach the helpline centre with their vehicles’ documents, driving license and badge number,” he said.

MCC standing committee president Poornima, J Surendra, Ravishankar Mijar, Kiran Rai, Umanath Shettigar and others were present.
