Mangaluru: Mangaluru South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath said that the BJP is aiming at providing corruption-free governance in the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) and that priority will be given to an e-governance system.

Kamath alleged, in a press release, that during the Congress’ administration in the MCC there was a lot of corruption. In order to provide corruption-free governance, importance will be given to e-payment of bills. More development works were undertaken while there was BJP administration in both the state and the MCC. As there is a BJP government in both the Centre and the state, there is an opportunity to undertake more developmental works in the MCC now. Hence, the people should support the BJP in the MCC elections, he said.

Kamath also said that, when he was elected as the Mangaluru South MLA, the BJP was not able to form the government and he could not undertake much developmental works in his ward. However, after the BJP form the new government, he was granted Rs 100 crores for different developmental projects in his constituency. Foundation stones were laid for various developmental works worth Rs 23 crore, he stated.

The MLA also assured that measures would be taken to decrease tariffs that were hiked unscientifically during the Congress’ administration. “Measures will be taken for the proper implementation of the smart city project and to rectify the problems pertaining to property cards,” he said.
