Kasargod : Unidentified bike bound assailants fired gun shots at the house of a PWD contractor at Bevinje here in the early hours of July 18, Thursday. Underworld don Ravi Poojari aides are suspected to be behind the incident.
The incident took place at around 5.15 am when the PWD contactor Mohammad Kunhi had been to the mosque with his son Arafat for the morning prayers. On hearing the bullet shots, Kunhis wife and mother-in-law screamed forcing the assailants to flee.
It is learnt, one of the bullets left the window panes shattered and hit against the window of the hall of the house. Later, the miscreants reportedly fled towards Cherkala .
This however is not the first time that a shoot-out has been reported from Kunhi’s house. Once earlier, on June 25, 2010 a similar incident had taken place.
