benelli bikeMangaluru: Italian motorcycle manufacturer Benelli launched the much-awaited ‘Leoncino’ 250cc motorcycle in a programme held at the Benelli India showroom in Kulur, Mangaluru on Wednesday, October 16.

Welcoming the gathering, the event’s host, Sahil Zayed briefed the audience on the features of the motorcycle. Popularly known as the “Lion’s cub”, the Leoncino motorcycle is a small yet stylish single-cylinder bike with a 4-stroke liquid-cooled engine that makes it roar like its namesake. “It costs over Rs 2.5 lakhs,” Zayed added.

Afterwards, IDBI Bank (Falnir) DGM Pradeep, IDBI Bank (Falnir) Regional Manager Ranjeet, United Bikers of Mangalore head John, and Mangalore Motorsports Club head Vinod were called upon to unveil the new motorcycle and officially launch the bike in the city. Benelli showroom General Manager Naveen and Head of Sales Suman also joined the dignitaries.

Addressing the gathering, General Manager Naveen said, “The Leoncino 250cc is a very small and very cute bike. It has a 26bhp engine and it’s very powerful.”

Elaborating on the technical aspects of the motorcycle, Sales Head Suman said, “Basically, it is an inter-level Benelli model. Just two days ago, it was launched in India and now it is getting launched here in Mangaluru. The bike comes in a very popular 250cc segment. It is probably the only bike in India with the scrambler look.”

“It has an inverted spoke. Normally, you find the telescopic spoke in most of the bikes. This bike has more bottom impact resistance and you get a very good comfort out of them, especially for Mangaluru roads,” he added.

Suman further said, “This is a bike that can be used daily since it has a good mileage of 32 to 35 km. It is available in four colours including black and silver.”

After catching a glimpse of the motorcycle for the first time, United Bikers of Mangalore head John said, “It’s nice that big companies are coming out with smaller bikes because big bikes are not practical for Indian roads. Big bikes can be quite heavy. When we slip and fall, especially during the rains, we should be able to lift the bike.

“We are used to a sort of traditional design among motorcycles. But now, we have different designs of motorcycles. For example, we cannot see the shock absorbers of the bike at the back. I’m sure this motorcycle makes for a comfortable and plush ride,” he added.

The motorcycle is available for pre-order booking. Contact 8095114222 for more details.
