Belthangady: In a tragic incident, a son hacked his father to death, in Belthanady taluk of Dakshina Kannada district.
The deceased is Vasu Saphalya (75), a taxi driver by profession. His son Dayananda hacked him to death on Monday morning, when Saphalya was on his morning walk at Belthangady Junior College grounds.
Though Vasu Saphalya was rushed to a hospital in Mangaluru, he succumbed to the severe head and neck injuries caused in the attack.
It is said that Vasu Saphalya was left with no other option but to work and feed his family as his son Dayananda was wasting time doing nothing. What added to Vasu Saphalya’s miseries was the drunken brawls of Dayananda at home.
Though the father used to tell his son to mend his ways, get a job and settle down in a respectable manner, the son used to get irked by the words of wisdom and it is believed that on Monday morning he hacked his father for the same reason.
To put an end to persistent demands of his father to make a living, Dayananda, on Monday morning sat hiding near the Junior College grounds and when his father arrived there for his routine morning walk, Dayananda hacked his father to death using lethal weapons and fled the scene.
The police is on a lookout for Dayananda. They cops have seized the weapon used for executing the crime.
