Beat-police to convene public grievances meeting once a month

Mangaluru: In order to address the problems of the people, the police department is planning to introduce public grievances meeting by the beat-police once in every month in the police commissionerate limits.

As the members of the public had complained about their problems during the weekly phone-in-programme at the Police Commissioner’s office on Friday, January 11, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Hanumantharaya informed that the beat-police would convene public grievances meeting once in a month in a particular place. People can place their grievances before the police and it will be rectified by communicating with the people concerned, he informed.

When a caller complained about traffic congestion due to parking of vehicles in ‘No Parking’ zones, DCP Hanumantharaya informed that towing vehicles would start operations in city area within few days. “Towing vehicles will take away the vehicles parked in prohibited areas. If the four-wheelers are found violating parking rules, the penalty will be Rs 1,100 and it will be Rs 750 for the two-wheelers. Heavy vehicles need to pay a penalty of Rs 1,650 for the same vehicles”, he informed.
