Mangaluru: All the college students’ unions of Dakshina Kannada district submitted a memorandum to the District Bar Association requesting them not to argue in favour of the accused in Thota Bengre gang rape.
The members said that the incident of gang rape was a black dot on Mangaluru and that the lawyers should not argue in favour of the accused. They also warned of a dharna in front of the office of such an advocate who takes up the case in favour of the accused.
Students’ union members Gurudath Malli, Ibrahim Bathish, Astel Lobo, Ashwith Udupa, Anvitha Shetty, Shainy, Megha Nihal Rai, Sohan Karanth, Majeed Korepady, Sulaiman Shafi and Ashfaq among others were present.
