Mangaluru: Bank employees from Kasaragod will now be allowed to travel to the Dakshina Kannada district for work on a daily basis, provided they meet certain conditions.

The development comes after the Kerala government relaxed their travel rules.

According to TOI, the Kasaragod DC Dr D Sajith Babu informed that bank employees will be allowed to travel only in their private vehicles. They should submit their identity cards and vehicle details to the district administration through the Covid-19 Jagratha portal.

Workers travelling from Mangaluru will have to quarantine themselves for seven days once they reach Kasaragod and on the fifth day, they will have to take an antigen test. If they test negative, they will be allowed to report to duty. Apart from this, they will have to submit an affidavit stating that they will not be working in any department that requires the employees to work with the general public directly.

Regarding the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (CET) exams (scheduled to be held on July 30 and 31), the DC said that the students will not be allowed to travel in private vehicles and so, the district administration will be arranging special KSRTC buses for them.

He added that the students and their family members should quarantine themselves for seven days after the CET exams and undergo an antigen test on the fifth day.
