Ban orders in place in M’luru on New Year’s Eve

Mangaluru: Restrictions are in place in Mangaluru city in connection to New Year celebration, in wake of the Corona Virus pandemic and the emergence of new strain of the virus.

As per the order, the prohibitory orders under Section 144 (1) will be applicable from 6.00 pm on December 31 to 6.00 am on January 1, 2021.

In an official statement, Commissioner of Police Vikas Kumar stated that the restriction include ban on:

*Gathering of five or more people and New Year celebrations on public roads.

*Any form of gatherings in public places, main roads, beaches, open areas for purpose of celebrating New Year.

*DJ event shows, programmes or performances or musical nights for New Year by hotels and other establishments.

*Gatherings of any kind in hotels, malls, restaurants, clubs, pubs, clubhouses or any similar establishments.

Meanwhile, in-house celebrations in residential complexes, private clubs can be held for members and residents without organising special events.

Hotels, malls, restaurants, clubs and pubs can carry out regular business activities within permissible decibels. The management of the establishments must make sure that no crowd is allowed to gather outside their premises.

Earlier, the district administration of Dakshina Kannada had banned tourists and public from visiting beaches.
