However, their party was cut short as a person associated with the Bajrang Dal seemed to take objection to the party. He reportedly, along with nine other people created a ruckus at the restaurant and the gang even called the police to threaten of “unwanted situation” if they did not stop the party.

The gang, however, fled the scene upon police arrival in order to evade arrest. Since the police did not find anything objectionable with the party being held, they asked the students to return to their college.

The Puttur Police have registered a suo moto case and arrested Bajrang Dal District Co-convener Sridhar Tenkila in this regard.

Similar incidents of moral policing have been reported from Belthangady and Karinje Taluk in Bantwal since March. In the most recent case that took place around two weeks ago, youngsters who were celebrating a birthday party at Fathima Beach in Tannir Bhavi had been allegedly assaulted by a gang.
