Mangaluru: Bad weather and reduced visibility in Mangaluru in the early hours of Sunday, September 2, resulted in some flights being diverted from the Mangaluru International Airport (MIA).

As many as three flights had to be diverted from MIA as reduced visibility and bad weather prevented them from landing.

According to sources at the airport, one flight from Dubai to Mangaluru and one flight from Abu Dhabi to Mangaluru had to be diverted to Coimbatore. An Indigo flight that was on its way from Bengaluru also had to be diverted.

Neil Noronha, who had to travel to Bengaluru on the Indigo flight, told NewsKarnataka, “My flight was supposed to leave the airport at around 7.05 in the morning but it got diverted on its way here due to bad weather. My flight finally left from Mangalore at around 10.15 am. While I was at the airport, two or three other flights were diverted.”

As of 10.30 this morning, all flights have resumed as normal, added the sources.
