Mangaluru: A posthumously published autobiography of former Karnataka higher education minister late B A Moideen “Nannolagina Nanu” was released at the Town Hall here on Friday, July 20. The autobiography was penned down by Mohammed Kulai and B A Mohammed as it was narrated to them by the deceased politician.

Former chief minister Siddaramaiah paid tributes to late B A Moideen and termed the veteran leader as a “good humanitarian who treated everyone with true love and respect without any discrimination of caste or religion”.

“We may have been born in different religion or caste but not accepting people of other faiths is called fanaticism and such people are called fanatics,” Siddaramaiah said.

Siddaramaiah remembered Moideen as a true leader who had the quality of treating everyone with true love and respect. “Moideen is a role model to the society because of his good qualities and all politicians should inculcate this in their life.”

Quoting the words of Moideen, the former CM said the veteran leader had revealed that the poor performance of the Congress was due to two factors i.e., growing Hindutva fanaticism and false accusations by BJP. In the book, Moideen has expressed that the growing communalism and fanaticism will be dangerous to democracy, Siddaramaiah said adding that “these should not be allowed to grow.”

Folk scholar B A Viveka Rai released B A Moideen’s autobiography.

Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly K R Ramesh Kumar, District In-charge Minister U T Khader, M C Nanaiah, MLC B M Farook, MLC Ivan D’ Souza, Mayor Bhaskar K Moily and others were present.

The 232-page book is published by Bharatha Prakashana Jeppu, Mangaluru and is priced at Rs 250.

The book largely throws light on B A Moideen’s childhood days, marriage, family and politics. According to sources, late B A Moideen has made some “controversial” remarks about few Congress leaders rumoured to be Veerappa Moily, Janardhan Poojary and Oscar Fernandes.
