Mangaluru: Two kids from Manjeshwara in the Kasargod district, who had come to Mangaluru on holidays and were stranded in the city due to the implementation of the lockdown, have finally reached their homes safely, thanks to Kadri Police Station ASI Santhosh Kumar Kateel.

The kids had come to Mangaluru visit their relatives living in the Mangaladevi area of the city. However, just as they reached the city, the lockdown was announced and the kids had no option but to remain in Mangaluru.

The Dakshina Kannada district’s borders were sealed and the kids had lost all hope of going back home anytime soon.

Even though they were living with their relative, they were missing their parents.

The matter was brought to the notice of ASI Santhosh Kumar, who had a talk with the family members and ferried the children in his vehicle till the Talapdy checkpost.

The parents had procured the required documents and got the paperwork done from their side of the border and thus, the kids could finally return home.

Commissioner of Police Dr Harsha lauded the efforts of the cop and dubbed him ‘Corona Warrior of the day’.

“Exemplary sense of duty by Santhosh Padil ASI helping children and sick reach their homes at his personal risk. He is the COVID warrier for today. He got an ailing child of 10 months old treated and made the kid reunite safely with parents on kerala border.. INSPIRING..” his tweet read.
