Addressing the protestors, association State Secretary Nagalakshmi said that though Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy had promised of increasing the honorarium, he had fulfilled the same so far. The government of Andhra Pradesh had fixed a monthly honorarium of Rs 10,000 per month to the Asha workers. But, Karnataka government ignored the demand of Asha workers”, she lamented and urged to fix a honorarium of Rs 12,000 per month.

Meanwhile, Nagalakshmi demanded the release of the honorarium meant for Mother and Child Tracking System (MCTS) works pending since the past 10 months. Citing that Asha workers need to spend more time on the service of MCTS, the honorarium for this should be fixed at Rs 3000 per month, she stressed.
