Anti-CAA, NRC protest: M’luru police beef up security measures

Mangaluru: As a large number of protesters are expected to gather at Shah Ground in Adyar on January 15, the Mangaluru police have made elaborate security arrangements in the city on Tuesday, January 14 in anticipation of tomorrow’s events.

According to sources in the police department, police from the Udupi, Mysuru, Kodagu and Karwar districts came to the city. Additionally, 11 SPs, 18 ASPs, 100 DySPs, 300 police inspectors and 500 police sub-inspectors have been called to the city.

Commissioner of Police Dr P S Harsha informed the media that security was beefed up in the city to prevent any untoward incidents. He also asked the public to maintain peace.

Dakshina Kannada district Congress president and MLC Hareesh Kumar requested Block Congress presidents, members Zilla Panchayat, Taluk Panchayat, Youth Congress, Women Congress, NSUI, Sevadal and other members of the organisations that will be participating in tomorrow’s protest meet. SDPI district president Athaullah Jokatte also extended his support to the protest and asked all the members to participate.
