Mangaluru: Recently several bureaucrats have been trying luck in politics. After Anupama Shenoy, another police officer from Mangaluru will be switching to politics in the upcoming assembly elections.

According to reports, Madan Kumar, serving as PSI at Bajpe station has submitted his resignation to Mangaluru police commissioner to try his luck in politics. After serving as PSI for the last 5 years, Madan Kumar will contest from Mangaluru South constituency.

Madan reportedly submitted his resignation on January 3 which is yet to be accepted by the commissioner.

He expects a ticket from the BJP, failing which, he will contest as an independent candidate. He is of the opinion that the electorate who are fed up with rampant corruption and radicalists disturbing peace in the society, are looking for a change. He also expects educated youth to jump into politics to change the existing system.

Madan who hails from Kodagu is the only son. He lost his mother last year and has involved himself in several social service activities since then. He is also inspired by Swamy Vivekananda to enter politics. He first received training in Kalaburagi and completed probationary period in Belagavi. Later he served at Kadri, Bunder and Bajpe stations.
