Mangaluru: Aneesha Nayak has once again won the gold at the I-Fest (International Festival of Engineering, Sciences and Technology) held in Tunisia, Africa, for her project titled “Unearthing the chemical components responsible for the antibacterial properties of Plectranthus amboinicus”.

Her guide for the project was Nivedita Nityananda from the Department of Biology, St. Aloysius PU College.

The first time she won the gold was back in January of 2017.

Speaking about her win, Nayak said, “I’m grateful to God, my guide, Nivedita Nithyananda (lecturer, dept. of biology, St. Aloysius PU college) and her husband Shailesh from MCOPS Manipal, for relentlessly helping me with my project and conducting the tests required for the same, and my mother, Shaila Bhakta, for constantly supporting me and making it possible for me to participate despite the financial constraints.”

When asked about how she felt about the win, she said that she was happy to be brining home the gold once again.

Aneesha Nayak is a first year Pre-University student at St. Aloysius PU College, Mangaluru.
