Mangaluru: BJP President Amit Shah who is on a three-day tour in coastal Karnataka ahead of assembly elections, made a blunder by calling victim in MLA Harris’s son Nalapad’s assault case as BJP member.

Addressing ‘Navashakti’ convention in Bantwal, Shah said that the Siddaramaiah led Congress government is involving in protecting criminals. “There has been continous attack on our party workers. Vidwath is also a BJP party worker. In order to appease minorities, an FIR was not registered against Congress MLA Harris’s son, despite the assault on a youth in Bengaluru,” he said.

Meanewhile, BJP leader R Ashok said that Vidwath was not a BJP worker. “Our party president has said that he is our party member. He will clarify on the same,”he said.

However during a press meet later, Shah clarified that Vidwath was not a member of BJP.

Meanwhile, state minister U T Khader has criticised Amit Shah for his controversial statement.

The Bharatiya Janata Party has been often criticized for playing politics over dead bodies. Recently, Home minister Ramalinga Reddy too had accused the BJP of playing communal politics.
