Mangaluru: You might have utilised the benefit of the online taxi booking service. But, have you ever seen the ambulance service online? Besides ambulance service, you can also get the service of volunteers who will be ready to give emergency life support when somebody is in distress due to health reasons.

This life-saving idea was started by two persons namely Dr Maneesh Rai, cardiologist of KMC Hospital and Dikshith Rai of Codecraft Technologies. Though this idea was conceived by the two in 2015, they tried to promote the same through the government and the move earned them very little support. Hence, they dropped the idea initially.

What made them go ahead with their idea again?

Deekshith Rai recalls that a woman from Davanagere suffering from chest pain succumbed as she could not reach the hospital on time. Though the family had called for an ambulance, it took a lot of time to arrive and shift her to the hospital and the delay caused the lady her life.

“We thought that something needed to be done to cut down the time aspect and our search for an answer brought us to develop the Savior App. Though several people have used this app and received treatment, three people whose condition was fragile were saved due to timely medical intervention, thanks to the app, ” he says.

How does it work?

In order to avail this service the app will have to be downloaded to the mobile. This mobile app is linked with around 12 hospitals of the city now. If somebody has met with an accident or has fallen ill in public place, anybody who has the app in their mobile can press the request button. The message goes to the nearby ambulance and it rushes to the exact location and shifts the patient to the hospital. The patient party can opt for any hospital according to their wish. The service is completely free of cost.

“With the service of the ambulance, we have created trainers to handle the emergency situations. We have already trained teachers, home guards, traffic police, fire department, Asha workers and PHC workers. Saving life is our main motto“, Deekshith Rai adds.
