Mangaluru: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Rahul Gandhi will release the Congress party manifesto for the upcoming assembly elections here in the city on April 27 at 9.30 AM.
Addressing a press meet at the District Congress Office here on April 26, former chief minister and Manifesto Drafting Committee Chairman M Veerappa Moily said, “The manifesto will be a pro-people manifesto. The manifesto has been drafted by a committee comprising of 15 members after working for over four months and collecting opinions from various experts, MLAs and ministers.”
“After holding discussions for several hours on grass root level issues along with the party activists, experts from various fields, party MLAs, ministers and government officials, we have drafted the manifesto. In it, we have given importance to issues of farmers, the labour class and industrialists”, he added.
Moily also said that the manifesto drafting committee had given importance to education after gathering opinions from vice chancellors and educational experts.
For the first time in the history, the manifesto will be released at the state level, regional level and all the 30 districts of the state. On Saturday, April 28, the manifesto will be also released in Bengaluru, Hubli, Gulbarga, Chitradurga and Dharwad.
“The Congress government led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, has fulfilled 159 points out of 168, promised in the manifesto of year 2013. The government has been successful in creating 53 lakh employment opportunities for youth in the last five yeas despite adverse circumstances due to the union government led by Narendra Modi,” Moily said.
