Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh has asked the Excise Department to take action against those wine shops that have sold liquor illegally.

The stock of liquor in many wine shops have been cleared as they have been selling liquor illegally during the lockdown. The liquor shop owners have shut their shops only for name’s sake and are clearing their stocks. It is also said that they have been demanding three to four times the actual price for the liquor. The district administration has received a lot of complaints regarding this issue.

After receiving these complaints, the Deputy Commissioner asked the Excise Department to compare the stocks of liquor in every wine shop before the lockdown was enforced and the stocks during the lockdown.

She has directed the officials to take action against the liquor shops where there is a variation in the stock of liquor.
