Mangaluru: Rescue, Medical Care, Adoption and much more – Animal Care Trust in Shakthinagar is giving a new lease of life to animals as well as providing an opportunity for animal lovers to reach out to their furry friends through a volunteer drive. The volunteer drive will be held on Saturday, May 18 at the SDM Law College Auditorium at 4 PM as an opportunity to join the organisation as volunteers.
“This is an opportunity for people, who love animals and want to help, to join and meet all the volunteers, trustees and see the work we do,” said Sumar R Nayak, Trustee, ACT.
When asked what was the basic requirement to became a volunteer, Suma Nayak said, “They should be animal lovers, have the courage to serve community animals, spirit to work hard and the willingness to give their time to ACT.”
Expressing a need for volunteers, Dr Ganesh Pai, Founder Trustee said, “We need young shoulders, we need young brains, we need enthusiastic youngsters. Giving publicity and volunteer work is essentially what youngsters can do as part of ACT.”
Those who wish to become a volunteer must get a passport size photo, a copy of their photo ID and volunteer fees (Rs 100 for students and Rs 250 for working adults) on May 18.
About ACT
ACT is one among the few shelters being run with the help of volunteers, besides full time staff. Over two decades, the volunteers at ACT have rescued animals in distress and abandoned animals and rehabilitated them.
