Bantwal: Former district in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai has approached the Kanathoor Nalvar Daivasthanam Shrine. The visit comes after Thaniyappa Madival, father of slain Hindutva activist Sharat Madival held Rai and his associates responsible for the murder.

Reportedly, pained by the accusation of murder, Ramanath Rai and his associates approached the shrine, a temple court for believers, which sorts out all kinds of disputes.

Ramanath Rai expressed his anguish to the temple authorities and said that the allegations were unnecessary. “If I have made a mistake, let the deity punish me. An inquiry should be held against those who have accused me of the crime,” the former forest minister said.

Zilla Panchayath members Chandraprakash Shetty Thumbe, B Padmashekar Jain, DCC vice-president Baby Kundar and K Mahillappa Salian were present.

It may be recalled that 28-year-old Sharath, an RSS worker was brutally attacked and killed on July 4 in 2017.
