Mangaluru/ Shivamogga: Two incidents of the Anti Corruption Bureau cracking its whip on the government employees took place in Shivamogga and Mangaluru.
Nidige NADA office deputy Tahashildar Pradip Nikkam was caught by Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) while receiving a bribe from an old poor woman. The old woman had submitted an application for the old age pension scheme, but Pradip Nikkam demanded Rs.15,000 bribe to issue income certificate to the woman.
As per the deal between the old woman and the Tahashildar, he was to receive the initial amount of Rs. 8,000 as bribe on May 22. The ACB arrested him on the spot while receiving a bribe of Rs. 8000. The Investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, based on a complaint the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) personnel caught a clerk and district manager of Karnataka Minorities Development Corporation Ltd (KMDCL) red-handed, while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 on Tuesday, May 21.
The arrested have been identified as Rahil, a clerk and Sridhar Bhandary, district manager of KMDCL. Sources from the ACB informed that as the complainant wanted to do a dairy business, he had approached the KMDCL for a loan, but district manager of KMDCL Sridhar Bhandary demanded Rs 10,000 as a bribe to clear the file to avail subsidy. Disappointed over this, beneficiary approached the ACB and complained about the same.
Based on the complaint, the officials of ACB had been to the office of KMDCL in Urwa and arrested both Rahil and Sridhar Bhandary while receiving the bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant.
