Mangalore : The Dr GS Vridhashrama at Kodialbail in Mangalore will be conferring the Abhayashree Awards on three eminent personalities on May 19. Dr Giridhar Rao informed reporters on May 14, Tuesday that the Awards will be conferred on former Lokayukta Justice N Santosh Hegde and Dr Ramdas Pai, Manipal University Chancellor on that day. Late Bekal Lingappaiah, Founder of Abhaya Ashraya will also be conferred the Award posthumously.
The award is given in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the society in their own way, he informed.
Dr Rao further said the renovated building of the Ashram would also be inaugurated to coincide with the occasion. The building has two floors, he said adding the ground floor has been constructed with the help of donations from different banks, while the Kumble Ramdas Nayak Memorial Trust and MRPL had aided the construction of the second floor which houses the kitchen.
MN Kamath, President of the Ashram was also present at the press meet.
