Mangaluru: Virtual Maritime India Summit 2021 (MIS 2021) is being organized by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways from March 2 to 4, with the aim of promoting both domestic and international investment in the Indian maritime sector. 

In this conclave, there is a special session for investment opportunities in maritime sector in Karnataka on March 2 from 12.30 PM to 2PM, covering development of non-major ports, industries & allied infrastructure, fisheries sector along with tourism. The Chief Minister of Karnataka would invite investors for the opportunities for investments across the maritime-related sectors. The other speakers would include Chairman, NMPT, policy makers for the state, as well as representatives from existing industries around the non-major ports in Karnataka.

In this juncture, 7 MOU’s of INR 1417 Crores was signed by New Mangalore Port Trust with various stake holders and prospective investors on February 24, in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Ashwath Narayan C. N, Dr. A.V Ramana Chairman, NMPT, Shri Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP (D.K.) & Chairman, Mangaluru Innovation Conclave, other dignitaries and industry partners.

“The conclave will be a huge boost for the investment sector especially for port, export and so on. The conclave will highlight the various aspects regarding to development of port and maritime sector,” said Karthik Salian, PR at NMPT.

MIS 2021 will be attended by various stakeholders in the maritime sectors such as Policy Planners, Senior Government Officials, Domestic and International Investors, Sector Experts, Shipping Line Owners, Representative of Major Ports from across the world as well as the Governments of Maritime States in India.  The Summit will also host Forums for interaction and collaboration with the Indian and International Ports, Shipping and Maritime Companies, Investors and other stakeholders.

MIS 2021 also proposes to convene important sessions on themes such as Development of Port Infrastructure, Shipbuilding, Recycling & Repair, Hinterland connectivity and multi-modal logistics, Coastal Shipping, Trade through Inland Waterways, Bulk cargo Transportation, Port-linked Industrialization, Green Technologies, Skill Development and Maritime Financing.  Special sessions are also scheduled for Maritime States in India.
